Karen Before Picture

Karen before she lost 60 pounds

Karen’s path to become a weight loss coach became clear at an early age. Her girlfriends’ older sisters were athletic, tall and slim, always had boyfriends and were very popular and she wanted to be like them. At the age of 12 she tried her first diet and failed.  She continued to try anything and everything to lose weight but by the time she finished high school she was still 50 pounds overweight with no boyfriends. In her mid-twenties Karen eventually lost enough weight to wear “normal-sized” clothing; however, the never-ending obsession with weight always lingered in her life. Up, down; lose, gain -- over and over again. Deep down she knew there had to be something more than just going on a diet and she made it her mission to figure out what it was.  It took years working as a hairdresser, listening to client’s problems - including weight and health issues. These experiences lead Karen down the path of coaching individuals and facilitating workshops. Karen understands how the subconscious mind and the Law of Attraction affect weight loss. Today, Karen knows that the missing link in the weight loss industry starts with unlocking the habitual mind [which is our subconscious mind] first; yes diet and exercise are the external part of weight loss, however first and foremost you have to start internally, with the subconscious. Today Karen maintains a 60 pound weight loss, enjoys live to the fullest and applies these principals with all her clients.

What excites Karen about this work is that she knows every person is worthy and deserving of having great health and the ability to enjoy a life of satisfaction, fulfillment, and achievement.

What sets Karen apart is that she recognizes that resistance is a natural part of change. Dieting and exercise rely on external rules and restriction to create weight loss. Even if you manage to succeed in your weight loss, you'll live in fear of gaining the weight back and your energy will be preoccupied with your weight issue. You need to understand your thoughts and mindset first or you'll get stuck in your own limiting-thought system.

You can feel confident with Karen guiding you and your organization in solving these problems. Over the years Karen’s expertise has been honored with remarkable and notable accolades, including certification with Michael Losier, author of the best-selling book Law of Attraction; certified leader training with Weight Watchers Canada; author of workbooks; and engaging audiences with her inspiration, passion and education.

Five things about Karen Stocker and her experiences that might surprise and delight you:

Karen completed a triathlon when she was 47 years old and in need of a knee replacement. With the doctor's permission, she started training 6 days a week for 4 months. She finished 111 out of 130 people. Her goal was to finish the race, knowing that her knee would slow her down during the run, as she was only allowed to walk.  The obstacle of her bad knee didn't stop her from completing this goal, and from this experience she believes anything is possible as long as you are willing to do whatever it takes.

In her coaching practice, Karen knows obstacles will come up, and if you are only interested in doing a triathlon or interested in losing weight it will never happen however with a deep committment, determination and the will you can succeed. Believing in yourself and to be willing to do whatever it takes, along with Karen's expert guidance you will see amazing results.

In 1990 Karen attended a four-day Tony Robbins seminar and on the first day of the "Fear into Power" seminar she found herself doing a firewalk. The firewalk is when a person walks on a bed of red hot coals. They first need to bring themselves into a peak state in order to get over the fear and to not feel the burning sensation. This experience brought Karen to a whole new level of understanding of just how powerful our minds, beliefs, trust and faith can be.  She learned how to awaken the giant within and turn fear into power.  Two of Karen’s favorite inspirational sayings that she lives her life by from Tony are: "The past does not equal the future" and "If you want something bad enough you will find a way". When working with clients Karen knows they must want it bad enough, be committed to solve the problem and they will see their fears turn into power.

Karen decided to learn how to land an aircraft -- not fly one, just to land one. Her husband Dave flies a single-engine private aircraft and with the two of them flying it seemed to be safer if Karen could land the aircraft if something were to happen to her husband. After 24 take-offs and landings she feels confident she could take over the aircraft in an emergency situation. This experience left her with a strong sense that when you visualize with emotion, and repeat that image over and over again, there are no limits to what you can achieve. With her clients, Karen knows with a clear image in your mind, a strong why and repetition is what moves them forward in their health goals.

In her early twenties Karen decided to get over her fear of public speaking by offering to talk about her first career in hairdressing to church groups and the cosmetology department at her local secondary school. Knowing that she was an expert in this area she figured it couldn’t be that hard.  Have you ever had the feeling of losing all the saliva in your mouth? The fear felt prior to public speaking is unbelievable; even to this day, after hundreds of speaking engagements, Karen still has these feelings. The fear is gone; however, there is always nervousness. If Karen's clients are concerned and have fear of gaining the weight back, they soon realize and understand that they are not on a diet, they learn to eat intuitively and mindfully and then their fears no longer exist.

When Karen was 19 and barely out of hairdressing school she bought her first Hair Salon. She had no previous business experience and had just graduated. The next four years were a real learning curve; however after becoming pregnant with her first child she decided to sell the business and doubled her investment. It was a great success for a 23 year old. After having her 2 children she went on to open another successful full service salon and worked in this industry for 30 years. Stepping out of our comfort zone can bring up fear and when our system feels "danger" we don't like the feeling and we go back to our normal "comfort" zone. When becoming healthier we know something has to change and it is normal to resist change and the habits you have are easier to stay in because you are used to them. When working with people to change long standing thought patterns we need to create a brand new circuit that starts with the right language, a new story, properly written affirmations. From Karen's years of experience in her hairdresser's chair she has worked with many clients on shifting to new ways of thinking.

Karen offers one-on-one coaching, seminars and workshops from a 30-minute presentation to a full day workshop for your groups and organizations to hear her message to live your best life.
